This 4-day Great Migration safari from Arusha is a mid-range wildlife experience. It also covers three of the most iconic destinations in Tanzania: Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. We designed it for travelers who want an affordable Tanzania safari. At the same time, you still enjoy premium wildlife viewing in the Northern Circuit.
The safari focuses on key experiences, such as the elephant herds of Tarangire and the predators and migration herds of the Serengeti. Finally, you enjoy rich Big Five encounters in the Ngorongoro Crater. So the trip suits couples, families, solo travelers, honeymooners and photography-focused guests.
First, your journey begins with a pickup from Arusha by a professional guide. Then you transfer to Tarangire National Park, well known for its large elephant populations and ancient baobab landscapes.
During a full-day game drive, look for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest and various antelope species. In addition, the Tarangire River is a major wildlife magnet, especially during the dry seasons.

After breakfast, travel through Mto wa Mbu village and climb into the Ngorongoro Highlands. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the crater rim, volcanic landscapes and Maasai settlements.
Then continue into Serengeti National Park for an afternoon game drive across the plains. Meanwhile, you may see lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes and large herds of grazing animals. In addition, you may see Great Migration herds, depending on the timing.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti ecosystems in search of the Great Wildebeest Migration. During your game drives, your guide follows the movements of the herds and the areas where predators are active.
For example, you may see river crossings (seasonal), predator-prey interactions and large concentrations of wildebeest and zebras. You can also look for elephants, buffaloes, hippos, jackals and many bird species.

First, leave the Serengeti early and head toward the Ngorongoro Crater. Then descend to the crater floor for a game drive in one of the richest wildlife habitats in Africa.
Here you can also expect to see black rhino, lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and flamingos. After a picnic lunch, you finally return to Arusha for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.

The migration is seasonal and moves across the Serengeti ecosystem. The best viewing periods depend on river crossings and calving seasons, generally occurring between June and October and again from December to March.
