Experience one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife events on this 6-day Ndutu Calving Season Safari. We also time it to match the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Southern Serengeti.
During the peak season, the Ndutu plains become a vast nursery. Here, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest gather to give birth. As a result, the plains attract large numbers of lions, cheetahs, hyenas and other predators. Peak calving is generally around mid-January to February, although timing varies with rainfall.
Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Two Full Days in Ndutu
The safari combines Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Ndutu/Southern Serengeti plains. In addition, it includes two full days in Ndutu. So you have more time for newborn wildebeest calves, huge migration herds and predator hunts. You also see zebra and gazelles and enjoy spectacular photographic opportunities.
First, you explore the elephant-rich landscapes of Tarangire. Next, you visit the extraordinary concentration of wildlife in the Ngorongoro Crater. Finally, you reach the dramatic Ndutu calving grounds. Overall, this itinerary suits travelers who want to experience the Great Migration at its most intimate and dramatic stage.
