The Shira Route is our most recommended short Kilimanjaro hike. That is because it gives some of the closest, clearest views of Kibo Peak and Uhuru Peak on clear days. In addition, its open landscapes and peaceful trails make it one of the best routes for photography and nature lovers.

Coffee, hot springs and a night in Moshi

Next, your adventure continues with a visit to a traditional Chagga coffee plantation. Here, you also experience local culture and taste freshly roasted Tanzanian coffee. Afterwards, relax and swim in the crystal-clear waters of Chemka Hot Springs, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful natural attractions.

Later, you spend the night at the comfortable Kilimanjaro White House Hotel in Moshi. Optional accommodation upgrades are also available to suit your budget. All in all, this tour is the perfect mix of mountain adventure, culture and relaxation in just two unforgettable days.

Itinerary

Day 01 :

Arusha / Moshi – Londorossi Gate–Shira Route Hike – Moshi

Your adventure begins with a pickup from Arusha, Moshi, Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). First, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration. Then continue by vehicle to Shira Gate, one of the highest starting points on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Next, start your guided hike across the spectacular Shira Plateau. The trail offers wide-open landscapes, unique alpine vegetation and volcanic formations. In fact, the scenery is unlike any other short Kilimanjaro hiking experience.

When the sky is clear, you enjoy spectacular close-up views of Kibo Peak and Uhuru Peak. So this is the best route we recommend for travellers who want unforgettable mountain photography. Throughout the hike, your professional guide also shares fascinating insights into Kilimanjaro’s geology, wildlife, ecology and climbing history.

Finally, after the hike, transfer to Kilimanjaro White House Hotel in Moshi for dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 02 :

Coffee Plantation Tour – Chemka Hot Springs – Departure

After breakfast, visit a traditional Chagga coffee plantation on the fertile slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. First, learn how farmers grow, roast and brew premium Tanzanian Arabica coffee. Then enjoy a freshly prepared cup with the local community.

Next, continue to the beautiful Chemka Hot Springs. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters are the perfect place to swim and relax. You can also enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings.

Following lunch, return to Arusha, Moshi, Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. Finally, this brings your unforgettable Tanzanian adventure to a close.
