Overview

Challenge yourself on the unforgettable 7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via the Machame Route, the most popular and scenic trail to the summit of Africa's Highest Mountain. Known as the Whiskey Route, this itinerary is designed with an extra acclimatization day, giving climbers a higher chance of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) while enjoying one of the world's greatest trekking adventures. The Machame Route is famous for its spectacular landscapes, excellent acclimatization profile, and diverse ecological zones. During your journey through Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, you'll hike across lush rainforest, giant heather and moorland, volcanic alpine desert, dramatic ridges, and glacial landscapes before standing on the Roof of Africa. Unlike shorter itineraries, the 7-day Machame Route follows the recommended "climb high, sleep low" principle with a gradual ascent that allows your body to adapt naturally to the altitude. This significantly improves summit success rates while giving you more time to appreciate Kilimanjaro's breathtaking scenery.

At Serengeti Wildlife Safaris, our experienced mountain guides, professional cooks, and dedicated porters are committed to providing a safe, enjoyable, and successful climb. Whether you're an experienced trekker or attempting your first high-altitude mountain, this itinerary offers the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, and acclimatization.

Itinerary

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Arusha, Moshi, Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), or Arusha Airport (ARK) before driving to Machame Gate (1,800 m). After completing registration inside Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where giant trees, colorful birds, blue monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys thrive.

The trail gradually climbs through dense tropical forest while your professional mountain guide introduces you to Kilimanjaro's unique ecology, volcanic history, and wildlife. Enjoy a freshly cooked dinner while watching the sunset before spending your first night beneath the stars.
