You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi and driven to the Nalemulu gate, where you will complete the necessary registration formalities. From the gate, you will begin climbing through the dense rainforest of the Rongai route to reach Simba Camp at an altitude of 2,625 meters. This hike covers a distance of around 7 km and takes approximately 4-5 hours.
After breakfast on this day, you will continue through the moorland zone and heather to reach Kikilewa Camp at an altitude of 3,600 meters. This hike covers a distance of around 11 km and takes approximately 6-7 hours.
Continue to hike through the moorland zone and begin to see stunning views of the Mawenzi peak. You will arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp at an altitude of 4,315 meters. This hike covers a distance of around 6 km and takes approximately 4-5 hours.
We will cross the lunar desert and reach the Kibo Hut at an altitude of 4,700 meters. This hike covers a distance of around 8 km and takes approximately 5-6 hours.
You will wake up very early in the midnight and start the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. This climb covers a distance of around 5 km and takes approximately 6-7 hours. After spending some time at the summit, you will begin the descent to Horombo Hut at an altitude of 3,720 meters. This hike covers a distance of around 15 km and takes approximately 6-7 hours.
After breakfast on the final day, you will descend through the rainforest and reach the Marangu Gate, where you will receive your summit certificates. This descend takes approximately 5–6 hours and covers a distance of around 20 km. You will then be driven back to your hotel in Arusha.
