Tour Plan

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins at Lemosho Gate, where you’ll start the ascent through lush rainforest. Known for its scenic beauty, this is the most picturesque approach to the mountain. Gradually, you will climb to Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled beneath towering trees. This initial trek provides the perfect opportunity for acclimatization as you adjust to the altitude. Along the way, you may encounter Colobus monkeys and various bird species. After your day’s climb, enjoy a warm meal and rest before the next leg of your journey.

On day two, the terrain shifts as you climb from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira One Camp. The forest gradually gives way to moorland and heath, with stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks. You’ll likely spot mountain antelopes like the duiker and eland along the way. As you reach Shira One Camp at 3,650 meters, enjoy panoramic views of the Shira Plateau and the surrounding landscapes, providing ample time for acclimatization and reflection on your journey.

Day three brings you from Shira One Camp to Shira Two Camp. As you ascend, the terrain becomes rockier, and the landscape opens up, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the plateau and the distant Mount Meru. Along the way, observe alpine plants like giant lobelias and enjoy the peace of the high-altitude wilderness. At Shira Two Camp, situated at 3,850 meters, relax and continue acclimatizing while soaking in the awe-inspiring scenery.

Today, you’ll trek from Shira Two Camp to Moir Hut, located at 4,200 meters. The route takes you through volcanic rock formations, alpine meadows, and small streams, providing a peaceful and isolated experience. Situated on the western side of Kilimanjaro, Moir Hut offers stunning views of the mountain’s western glaciers. This day is crucial for acclimatization, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore further with a shorter hike in the afternoon.

From Moir Hut, the trail leads to Pofu Camp (also known as Buffalo Camp), situated at 4,000 meters. The path takes you through a mixture of dense moorland and rocky terrain, offering a sense of solitude and isolation. The views of the towering peaks of Kilimanjaro and the changing landscapes are awe-inspiring. At Pofu Camp, relax and prepare for the next stages of your climb with the guidance and support of our expert Serengeti Wildlife Safaris team.

On day six, ascend from Pofu Camp to School Hut, located at 4,800 meters. The landscape becomes progressively more barren and rocky as you approach the alpine zone. School Hut offers the final rest stop before the summit push, with excellent views of the summit and Kibo Crater. Serengeti Wildlife Safaris ensures that your meals and rest periods are well-managed, allowing you to conserve energy for the upcoming summit attempt.

On day seven, the climb from School Hut to Kibo Hut (4,720 meters) takes you through a rocky landscape near the base of Kibo Peak. The ascent becomes steeper, and the thin air can make the climb more strenuous. Kibo Hut is the last stop before the summit attempt, where you’ll rest, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight ascent. The camp offers an incredible view of the summit, fueling your anticipation for the final push.

Your summit day begins with a very early start from Kibo Hut. The climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) is tough, with steep inclines and the high altitude adding to the challenge. But as you reach the summit, the reward is truly priceless: panoramic views from the Roof of Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Millennium Camp at 3,800 meters for a well-deserved rest. The descent is gradual, offering magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes.

On the final day, you will descend from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate (1,670 meters). The lush rainforest and warmer temperatures mark your return to the lower levels of the mountain. As you approach Mweka Gate, reflect on your incredible achievement of reaching the summit of Africa’s highest peak. You’ll be greeted by your Serengeti Wildlife Safaris team, who will congratulate you on your accomplishment and assist with transportation back to your accommodation, marking the end of your unforgettable journey.

On your final day, after a refreshing breakfast at Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel, your driver will take you back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. This 10-day safari has been an extraordinary journey, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, breathtaking landscapes, and cultural experiences. As you board your flight, you’ll reflect on the incredible memories you’ve made, knowing that Serengeti Wildlife Safaris has provided you with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We are certain that this journey through Tanzania will forever hold a special place in your heart.
